Sawyer's First Birthday

Mrs. Linderman got a new puppy in January and his name is Sawyer. He will turn one on April 23rd!

Here are our ideas for how Sawyer should celebrate his first birthday:

From Paxton, age 8 (almost 9!),
For Sawyer's 1st birthday, you should give him a treadmill and tie a bone to the handles so he will chase it and even, maybe, get a tv fro him to watch sports or something. That's how I would celebrate his birthday.

From Sarah Curtis, age 8,
For Sawyer's birthday, I would buy him a birthday hate, a huge bone, and dog cake. Then, put the birthday hat on him and give him a huge iece of dog cake and put the huge bone on top! That is how I would celebrate Sawyer's birthday!

From Anna, age 8,
You should get cookies for Sawyer's b-day but you have to get the type of cookies for dogs, or you can get a medium size bone. But for the party, invite just two dogs so it won't get too crazy!

From Tanner, age 8,
If I could attend Sawyer's first birthday, I would...
First, I would have to think of a theme...maybe Super Sawyer or Sir Sawyer the Great. Then, you woul dhave to buy all of the goodies for Super Sawyer like a cape, a piƱata, or a sculpture or a Sawyer mobile! That is what I would do for Sawyer's birthday.

From Mrs. Linderman: We'll be celebrating at the beach; hopefully he'll get into the ocean this time! Maybe he can wear a birthday hat too... :)

George Washington and Our Class

Rachel's comments on George Washington:

I know that George Washington was the first president and he had false teeth. He already died. He was very important to us.

Anna Claire's comments on George Washington:

I know that George Washington had false teeth. They were very, very disgusting. I also know that George Washington already died. And he was president. I think he was very cool.

Then, we visited the George Washington exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of History. We learned a lot of great information about our country's past and brave leaders.

Look at what Rachel and Anna Claire discovered about George:

Rachel: I learned that George Washington was one of six siblings. He had a beautiful white house. I know that he always had his journal with him so he could write down facts about the war.

Anna Claire: I learned that George Washington was six feet tall. And he had false teeth! And he had a beautiful wife.

Pipe Cleaners and Poems

Campbell's winter poem:

Frost
Running waters freeze
Everything is ice
Everybody says it's cold outside
Zoos are closed
Early dismissal

The Big Freeze

Wade: I think The Big Freeze movie will be awesome! I think the dinosaur will get frozen. Maybe the dinosaurs will be dangerous!

We earned our reward -- we are celebrating with a movie that relates to our science unit. The Big Freeze and popcorn!

Anna's New Year Resolution

I did do a resolution! It was to not eat too much candy. I picked that resolution because Santa gave me so much candy! And so far, I am doing good because my mom has been eating my candy out of my stocking!
